Last weekend, the family and I ventured up to Georgetown, KY. We all went about our various tasks (in FREEZING cold and snow), but had a really great time. Before we came back home, our friend Jeanne took the time to show us the historic side of Georgetown. She showed us the Stamping Grounds (where a huge number of Buffalo tended to gather), the Buffalo Gals Barn Quilt Trail and Ward Hall.
Outside of my inability to stay outside and take as many photos as I wanted (did I mentioned it was COLD?!?), it was perfect. I really do look forward to going back up there and visiting these and the other historic sites in the area. It’s truly amazing what you can find out about towns. The Barn Quilts particularly fascinated me becuase of how they came into being AND the fact that they are all up and down the barns along I-75. Jeanne told me that people never notice them until they’ve been brought to your attention… and true enough, I saw them on several barns coming home.
Thanks again Jeanne… it was a great experience!
